Why did Benazir Bhutto fall from office in 1990? [7]

The president of Pakistan, Ghulam Ishaq Khan, dismissed the government of Benazir Bhutto on 6 August 1990. He said that the government had failed in maintaining law and order situation in the Sindh province. There was serious violence in Hyderabad and Karachi in which hundreds of people lost their lives.

The government was inefficient and did not deliver good governance. There was decline in the economy and the rate of unemployment increased.

The government was involved in financial corruption. It gave loans to party workers who had no skills or experience in running their businesses. She was accused that her husband, Asif Ali Zardari, and her father-in-law, Hakim Ali Zardari, received massive kickbacks in local and international deals. It is also important to mention that Benazir Bhutto was not at good terms with the president and military establishment.

  3. well...I would like to add some amendments to the answer as I believe that there is always a room for improvement, you can also add a point related to:
1.The opposition from the opposition parties(particularly PML)
Here we can add the reference to the IJI(Islami Jamhuri Ittehad) which proved an hurdle in her way, and the no-confidence motion which became an affair that seriously damaged Benazir Bhutto's government,

2.The differences with President Ghulam Ishaq
Here we can give the reference of the prime minister's and president's contradicting views about the appointments and dismissal which created rifts between them and when in 1990 her government was faced with accusations regarding corruption, he took this as a valid excuse to dismiss her government ...

    1. the answer becomes perfect if we add this ans.......and my notes
      >She faced Corruption on nepotism charges, her husband (Zardari) was accused of corruption, bribery, blackmailing and kickbacks. Her mother was appointed as the senior Minister with a portfolio, and her father in law was chairman of the parliamentary public accounts committee. These charges badly effected her reputation and opposition exploited these charges against her and thus justified Ghulam Ishaq’s dismissal of her. >Serious Conflict with President Ghulam Ishaq Khan on appointment issue. The president had discretionary powers to appoint armed forces chiefs and judges of superior court, but Benazir wanted to appoint these herself. This refusal by president created tension between both he dismissed her to retain his own powers. >In 1988 PPP was able to get a majority but could not form its own govt. It made the govt center In Sindh Province with MQM but this coalation started to crumble on issues, such as the promotion of Sindhi language and people. This led to serious violence where people died (Pacca Qila). Shealso faced policy of confrontation from Nawaz Shrif, who was chief minister of Punjab and opposed her rule fiercely. The spread of violence and killing disabled Sindh (largest trade/industrial hub), and fierce non co operation from Punjab justified president’s dismissal of her.
